New Moon Poons...
Tarpon, Tarpon, Tarpon...
They're on everybody's mind right now including ours. With the new moon falling perfectly over the long Holiday weekend we were certainly looking forward to getting out. The only issue would be the storms. With 60%-80% rain chances each day everyone fishing had our fingers crossed but as luck would have it we got out for 2 solid days.
Brad's hot hand hooked 2 of our 3 fish on Friday night and got a 100 pounder to the boat for pictures...

All smiles...

Brad hoists another...

Fast forward to Saturday where my fiancee, Rainey, and I left the dock with some hold over crabs and high ambitions. The bite was slow, but Rainey had the hot hand this day going 1 for 2.
Hooked up...

On the way to the boat...

And finally Rainey gets her picture fish! My girl is a trooper. She's fought and landed over a dozen Tarpon in the last 2 seasons but for whatever reason that boatside shot with her and her tarpon eluded her, until now. Many times her fish were leadered and lost, sometimes we opted (wisely) to revive the fish rather than subject them to a photo shoot, and a few frisky fish managed to kick free of her grasp. But not today. We had the right fish at the right time, it all went well and in less than a minute I had the fish in my hands, then her's, and the fish kicked off no worse for wear after a little pull into the current.
Smile honey!
